Business in Climate: Partnering and Investing in Resilient Economies Webinar

Adjusting to the necessities of the COVID 19 pandemic, the NDCFI has continued to engage its stakeholders and advance key issues virtually in 2020, including by conducting a number of virtual events:

Building on the NDCFI’s Private Sector Engagement Strategy and the NDCFI’s efforts to foster a proactive dialogue between governments, international partners, and key private sector actors, a webinar on “Business in Climate: Partnering and Investing in Resilient Economies” was hosted by the NDCFI in May 2020, as part of the OECS Environmental Webinar Series

Recognizing that the mobilization of private capital for climate investments is essential to advance and accelerate NDC implementation while weathering the storms of a global health crisis and its socio-economic impacts in the Caribbean, the aim was to contribute to a better understanding of:

• The context and rationale for implementing increasingly ambitious climate commitments in the Caribbean

• The business case for investing in the development of low-carbon, climate-resilient economies in the Caribbean, especially in the context of a green recovery from the impacts of the global pandemic,

• Opportunities to build back better by aligning COVID 19 crisis action and recovery planning with urgent investments in low-carbon, climate-resilient economies

• Investment opportunities related to Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) made under the Paris Climate Agreement, and complimentary climate action
